Cel One, born Marcel Darnell Leggett, is a solo rap artist born and raised in San Jose, CA. His ambition to create music stems from his father’s side of the family, which consists of gifted singers and musicians. Darnell Leggett, his father, plays the Bass guitar, as part of a quartet and continues to tour to this day. At the age of 20, Cel One became serious about producing music and decided to create a rap group called, Lyrikal Spray. The group included 3 members: Cel One, Rtist, and Queezy. Being that it was a short venture, Lyrikal Spray never got to release any projects, but they did, however, perform at a few local shows. Like most groups, members separate, and Cel One concentrated on the pursuit of a solo career. In 2007, he created an independent label called, Da Fam Records. His goal was to build a team that would collectively support each other’s dreams and rise to success as a whole.
For the past 10 years, Cel One has been working on music. He started out with a few mixtapes and collaborations with many other talented artists. His first EP, “Jet Fuel,” was released under Da Fam Records, and is available for purchase on iTunes. He is currently in the process of finishing up his 2nd album.
After many years of performing in the Bay Area, Cel One is ready to branch out to other major cities, larger clubs and gain more of a mainstream listener base, in hopes to reach the level of success like rappers, Jay-Z & Lil Wayne. His style of music relays a positive feel-good sound to his fans and followers and strives to eventually sign onto a major label and continues to do what he does best; produce and “make music that will last forever”.
